The Right Size
His name is Taos. He is from Austin. He finally found a canvas that fits him. This painting is called "Horns of Steel". It is 24 x 48. He and I had a wonderful connection when I met him. Big. Friendly. Handsome. Regal. Strong. He had been in 3 paintings before this one and I finally did him justice.

The Elephants
A day at the Cincinnati zoo got me some good material for elephant paintings. Sabu, the male elephant, is back and ready to breed. We will see if it takes. In 22 months I may be painting baby elephants.

Texan Inspirations
I visited my dear friend from Highschool, Margie and her husband Tom, in Austin this week (June 13-19). An amazing time for sure. Some of the fun was finding the animals and painting in Tom's workshop (which was renamed my studio for the week). I am giddy with the alpacas, long horned cattle, sheep and Bebe the cat. Below is what I accomplished while I was there. You will be seeing more paintings from these animals as time goes by. "Horney" 12 X 9, $300 unframed

A Drive in the Country
Driving down the lane-and-a-half country roads I stopped when I heard the cluck of some chickens. I parked in the driveway and called out for any inhabitants. Barb came out and I asked her if I could take come pictures for some paintings. (She is there in the 'Greenhouse' painting). Barb does permaculture gardening, is a vegetarian, has 2 windmills and several solar panels. I love just dropping in and meeting new neighbors - out here in the country 2 miles away is a neighbor. She ended up with 3 out of the 5 paintings. I think I will drive up a few more 'neighbor's' driveways and see who else I can meet. Be looking for Jean's cows coming soon.
